Sell

Sell a single coin or an entire collection

People sell for all sorts of reasons — downsizing, a change of interest, settling an estate, or simply deciding a coin has served its purpose. Whatever brought you here, the process is the same, and it starts with looking at the material together.

How it works

Three steps, no pressure at any of them

01

Bring your collection in

One coin or twenty albums — both are normal. Leave everything in the holders, folders and envelopes it arrived in, and bring any paperwork with it. There is no need to sort or clean anything first.

02

We review it together

We go through the material in front of you, not in a back room. As we sort, we explain what we are seeing: what is common, what is worth a closer look, what is silver or gold content rather than collector interest.

03

We discuss your options

Sometimes that means an offer to purchase. Sometimes it means a suggestion to keep a piece, to have something examined further, or to sell part and hold the rest. You are free to take the information and go home to think.

What helps

Before you come in

Keep it together. A collection is easier to understand as a whole. Albums, loose coins, envelopes with handwriting on them and purchase receipts all tell part of the story.

Please do not clean anything. Polishing or scrubbing a coin almost always reduces what a collector will pay for it, and the damage cannot be undone.

Bring your questions written down. It is easy to forget them in the moment, and there is no such thing as too basic a question here.

Larger collections take longer. If you are bringing a substantial amount of material, it is worth letting us know first so enough time can be set aside.

Being straight with you

What we will and will not say

We will tell you what we see, how we arrived at a figure, and where the value in your material actually sits. If part of a collection would do better somewhere other than with us, we will say that too.

We will not promise the highest price you could possibly obtain anywhere. No dealer can honestly promise that, and any figure quoted depends on the specific pieces in front of us on the day.
